Things necessary to know about Laminator

laminator is a useful device when it comes to protecting important documents, cards, photos etc. It seals the document with a sheet of transparent plastic so that the document stays protected

Lamination acts a protective cover or coat and makes the document waterproof. Hence, this process is feasible for photographs too. Once laminated, the photograph does not get damaged even if subjected to water.

Laminators are available as pouch laminators and roll laminators. Laminators are available in both hot lamination and cold lamination.

Laminators are used on a day-to-day basis for many purposes. Photo ID cards, driving licenses, photographs, credit cards etc. are always laminated with a plastic card. Important documents such as birth certificates, degrees and diplomas are also generally laminated to help them stay undamaged, lifelong.

Using your own laminating equipment is quick, easy and inexpensive. Many laminators have adjustable heat controls, hot and cold laminating capabilities, automatic shut-off, variable speed control and adjustable tension.

Laminating is a simple way of enhancing and protecting documents. Sealing a document within a laminating pouch provides a durable and wipe clean surface which is totally sealed and waterproof.

An extended version of laminating called "over laminating", is the process of mounting a laminated item to a "substrate" (stiff foam board, wood or metal backing) overlaid with laminating film. Roll laminators and Pouch laminators use heat to encase an item in plastic film. Tape laminators apply film with an adhesive backing . Dry Mount Press laminators use vacuum pressure instead of physical contact to apply film to high quality prints.

Before buying a laminator, you need to consider your needs, and be sure about the kind of laminator you are looking for. You can judge the kind of laminator you need by some basic criteria

* Number of Documents: Consider the number of documents that you need to laminate in a day. A pouch laminator is good enough if you will be laminating a dozen papers a day.

* Size and Thickness: The size and thickness of the documents are important. Laminators are standardized for particular dimensions.

* Storage: Storage can be a difficult question, since a laminator can be quite bulky. Go for smaller laminator models if storage is an issue. Getting Discounts

The advantages to laminating are endless. Besides protecting from water, tearing, dirt, and staining, laminating also enhances colour, gives a smooth finish, and allows for easy write-on, wipe-off with no permanent markings
